Cream
Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young
Traveling Wilburys
A Perfect Circle

There,, I named at least 3,, I'm not sure if Traveling Wilburys would count? :noclue:

you got me with crosby, stills, nash, and young. that's probably the best supergroup. APC is not that interesting IMO but I can see if someone might like them. my point is that supergroups are never hungry and usually good music comes when bands are hungry... APC doesn't have ANYTHING against tool (in the same way tcv will never do anything even remotely interesting as zep, early qotsa, early foos, nirvana, etc. - not that they should be expected to though - that's the point - its just some dudes jamming)
I'm not entirely convinced Cream is a supergroup..... not in the same vein as them crooked vutlures is... travelling willburys are a curiosity - that's about it.

c,s,n, and y is a good one. although arguably young is the only main addition there - more like a super collaboration maybe?

Sometimes these people get together to make music they otherwise can't. Hence "side project", or "super group" if your big enough.

it's a weird album... a lot weirder than I was expecting... it's got some highlights... I'm sure it'll sound better in the car than my laptop's speakers...

I wasn't impressed at all by the 2 songs they played last night on SNL.
Dave Navarro's guitars & Eric Avery's basses.....to return soon, maybe.

not the strongest songs... and the mix was AWFUL on both... no vocals on Mind Eraser and Josh's guitar was lost on New Fang...

here are 2 that I personally hum along to...

...and Goddamn it, DG is just awesome in this one... when I saw them do this one live, I swore he was using a double bass pedal because his doubles were unbelievably tight and consistent...

yeah, i think josh is the weak link really. they need a better front man, bringing some better songs.

I think Josh is great. I didn't like that Uncle Fester guy from the SNL show.

imagine this:

avery on bass
grohl on drums
perk on percussion
money mark on keys

and they are grinding out some incredibly heavy drum bass keys prog rock. NO VOCALS. NO GUITAR.

I said the same exact thing, can't believe the mix was so bad for such an experienced band...wtf didn't they do soundcheck?

I almost went to see them last night, only reason being I always like to see JPJ if I can.
